Description
Developed during the later half of the 17th century the Scottish dirk has become synonymous with Highland culture. They further gained popularity with the Jacobite uprisings, and have developed into a thing of Beauty. They were often adorned with silver fittings and the hilts set with cairngorn stones. The Regimental Dirk, with its integral knife and fork set, was worn from the mid-19th century onwards. The silver mounted versions were favored by officers of militia regiments and pipe majors, though there were many exceptions to this rule.
This regimental Dirk features a 12″ double edged high carbon steel blade file-worked in the traditional scalloped pattern. Both the companion knife and fork have stainless steel blade and tines. All the grips are of stained wood, carved in the customary basket-weave pattern and surmounted by the traditional “cairngorms” (amber on the KH1229, amethyst on the KH1045). A suspension loop is provided on the leather-covered scabbard. This would make a nice addition to your highland dress at a fraction of the cost of an antique!
